Formerly "Fordham University's Introduction to the Irish Tin Whistle." I have renamed this site to reflect the fact that, while I've moved on from Fordham, it doesn't mean that the teaching series also must stop.

Hello Brother Ryan,
thank you so much for sharing your experience with the Irish Whistle. I started playing a few weeks ago because of your videos. I really like your lessons. Keep going.
Hi Ryan, thanks so much for posting all these videos, I've been learning with you for a while now and am really enjoying myself. Keep up the good work! God bless.
Just a question: I have been learning the Tin Whistle for the past 8 months and am involved in a concert in 2 weeks time...11 June. I am playing the Irish Rover, but am having a hek of a time getting up to the speed of the Dubliners/Pogues rendition...If I did not need to breath, I might have a chance!!
hi,great lessons and nice playing. im soon getting my first tin whistle shipped from UK to Sweden and want to try it out. just going to ask, u think ear plugs is a good idea? since i play the ocarina a bit and its soprano tuned i use earplugs, but i dont really know how high a tin whistle goes. from the videos it seem to go quite high? and is this a instrument appreciated around the bonfire or at the street, or is it too high and squeeky? :)
I just started to play the tin whistle. Your lessons are great but for me it would be much easier to have the music sheet aditional. Is there a possibility to get them?
I'm just starting the Whistle and I've stumbled across your site. Do you have any advise on playing the correct pitch of the note. (e.g. low G vs. high G) So far I've been doing the practice, practice, practice method. However I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks so much for all of the time and effort you've put into providing the tin whistle tutorials. I've learned so much over the past few years.
If possible, would you be able to turn on the "Search this blog" feature in your sidebar? That would be most helpful in allowing users to find old content.
Hello! I don't know if you are still reading comments to these posts, but I thought I wuld post my question here. As I reviewed your Youtube uploads on teh Tinwhistle, I very much enjoyed the video in which you discussed your music as a reflection of your journey of faith and as a witness to others of your faith in God. But I cannot seem to find that video. Could you post the link to that video? Thank you.
Hi!! Im from Argentina, I ve bought my first Whistle, and I found that it sounds all the same (notes) Could be me? or the material of the instrument? I think it sounds like any regular flute.I was expecting the sound will be different, more calid and soft. Thanks for your help and excuse my english. }Best Regards, Sol
Hi Ryan! Just like to say that i picked up the tin whistle about (could it be) 3 years ago. much of that due to being inspired from some of your videos. I've learnt many tunes now, but there are still some of my favorites, that you play in some neat versions, that i cannot seem to figure out. These are Ships are sailing; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JUtg8uL5rY and this version of the butterfly; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FKdWfq1fRU Lessons of these (especially Ships are sailing) would be greatly appreciated. Many, many thanks for your inspirational videos.

It's me Kitz again. Good Evening Brother Ryan.
May I request something? I think it's better to put the notes of every music because it would help us a lot.
I hope it will not bother you too much with my request.
I'm really really interested to learn and master the Tin Whistle.
And I would be proud to say that; You are my TEACHER.
Thanks a lot! I try to listen all the musics played in Tin Whistle but it's hard for me to learn because I can't find the notes.
In Jesus, Mary and St. Joseph,
Kitz N. Wilson
Tank you so much for sharing your time, and experience, with us.
You helped me a lot, expecially with gracenotes!
Just, keep going!
